Art

Art has been my way of sharing love and affection. Most of these pieces were made as gifts, meant to tell someone how special and important they are through the time and effort that went into them, and to convey what they mean to me. I want my pieces to be intricate and complex up close, yet simple when you step back and take in the whole, and I suppose that is how all of these came to be.

To me, art is slow and demanding work, and that is exactly the kind I choose. I start with something I have envisioned and keep at it until the piece matches it, and the whole stretch from the first cut to the last feels like flow. I also like to move between mediums, from paper cutting to oil, gouache, and pen, to explore the diversity of each one and the patterns it lends itself to.

I also like each piece to carry a meaning, one I settle on either before I begin or after I finish. The quote beside each piece is what it reflected to me at that moment. Art is one more way of sharing a line of thought, and these were mine at those specific times.

All of these were made a few years ago. I hope to start something new soon.
