Graduated from NYU with MSCS

Graduated. MSCS from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University.

Some highlights and takeaways from the last 1.5+ years of my life in the US;

  • I can cook and make a meal.
  • Attended NVIDIA GTC, plus pitched myself for opportunities in the domain I want to work in.
  • Started working on open-source projects and merged code changes (vLLM, Nvidia/cuda-python).
  • CUDA kernel fusion(silu_mul + fp8 block quantisation) works to vLLM, used in Deepseek-R1, Non-MOE Qwen and llama3-fp8-block models.
  • Attended an in-person live Jimmy Fallon show at Rockefeller Centre in New York City.
  • Recitation Leader(TA) for Calculus I: Held weekly teaching sessions for 60+ undergrad students. Got a good stipend and was able to manage at least 5 months of my whole expenses.
  • I can understand what my family has to sacrifice for this and the betterment as a whole.
  • Wrote 51 ML foundational blogs with absolute math rigour.
  • My perspectives have expanded, and now optimising experiences as a factor.
  • Made some of the best friends for life.
  • Trained for intelligence(both mentally and emotionally) through a lot of breakdowns and breakthroughs.
  • Can read, understand, teach and build in-depth technical content without anyone’s help/guidance.
  • Built a lot of confidence in myself and conviction in what I want.
  • Explored many courses & directions to find my genuine interest and found one where I want to concentrate.
  • Not willing to settle for generic roles.
  • Increased my appetite for risk and uncertainties. My views on it changed to see more on the positives, yet be discriminative enough to dig deep through to choose the optimal one.
  • I’m fortunate enough.
  • Importance of support systems.
  • Explored NYC with friends over Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
  • Holding multiple oppositional thoughts doesn’t seem to tire me as it used to be.
  • Met and connected with the best people in the industry, I want to specialise in.

Learnings I’m taking for life:

  • Actions alone matter.
  • Health is important. I’m yet to make a lot of progress in this.
  • Learning, unlearn and transform everyday. Keep moving.
  • Everything is a muscle that can be trained for.
  • Later never comes.

I wish to expand on each of these points, but not at this moment. Each of these experiences, along with many others not mentioned, has shaped me in ways I never imagined, and for the better. Thanks to all. Currently, I am focused on pursuing the career path I’ve set for myself, and that is my only goal at the moment. So, moving towards this next stop in life and keep going further.
